If your audio is not working, there could be a few different things causing the issue.
The first step in troubleshooting your problem is to make sure your speakers or headphones are connected properly. Make sure that your speakers or headphones are plugged securely into the correct output port on your computer. If you are using external equipment, ensure that all wires are plugged into the correct ports. Make sure the volume is turned up on both your device and the output device (speakers/headphones).
If the physical connections are not the issue, make sure your sound driver is up-to-date by running Windows Update on your computer. If you are using an Apple computer, open “Software Update” in the App Store. If the issue persists, it is likely that the sound driver needs to be reinstalled or updated manually. You can find your sound driver by going to Device Manager in the Control Panel and looking at the “Sound, video and game controllers” section.
Once you have your sound driver, search online for the updated driver and download it to your computer. Once the new driver is installed, restart your computer and check if the audio works.
If the issue persists, try running a System File Checker scan. This process checks for corrupt or outdated files and attempts to repair any issues it finds. To run this, type “sfc /scannow” in an elevated command prompt. Restart your computer and check if the audio works after the scan.
If the issue still persists, there may be an issue with Windows Audio Services. To repair this, open Services from Administrative Tools in Control Panel. Right-click on “Windows Audio” and click “Properties”. Under the “Startup Type” drop-down menu, select “Automatic”, then click “Apply”. Right-click again on “Windows Audio” and select “Start”. Restart your computer and check if the issue is resolved.
If the issue still persists, there could be corrupted system settings preventing your audio from working properly. To fix this, run the System Restore tool. This tool creates a restore point before making any changes and then restores any corrupted system settings. To open System Restore, type “restore” in the search bar and select the “System Restore” option. Follow the prompts to select a restore point, then restart your computer and check if the audio works.
If none of the above solutions work, there may be a hardware issue preventing your audio from functioning properly. In this case, you may need to replace the audio card or buy a new audio system.
