If your mouse isn’t working correctly, there are a few things you can do to troubleshoot the issue.
1. Check the connection. Make sure the mouse is plugged in securely to the computer, or that the wireless connection is working properly. If you’re using a USB mouse, try unplugging it and plugging it back in. For a wireless mouse, replace the batteries or check the signal strength.
2. Check for driver updates. If your mouse is not working as expected, it could be because the drivers aren’t up to date. To update your drivers, go to the manufacturer’s website and find the latest driver for your mouse. Download and install the driver.
3. Restart your computer. Sometimes restarting your computer can fix an issue with a mouse not working correctly.
4. Check your mouse settings. Go to your computer’s settings and make sure that each setting is correct for your mouse. For example, if you use a wheel mouse, ensure that the wheel speed is set to the correct sensitivity level.
5. Use the Mouse Troubleshooter. Windows comes with a Mouse Troubleshooter to help diagnose and fix common mouse issues. To access the Mouse Troubleshooter, go to Start > Settings > Devices > Mouse & Touchpad. Click on the “Troubleshoot” button and follow the on-screen instructions.
6. Clean the mouse. Over time, dirt and dust can accumulate on the surface of the mouse, blocking the sensors and causing the mouse not to work properly. Try cleaning the mouse with a cloth dampened with alcohol or water.
7. Try a different mouse. If none of the above solutions work, try another mouse. If the other mouse works, then the issue is likely with the original mouse. If the other mouse doesn’t work either, then the problem is likely the computer itself.
8. Contact technical support. If you’re still having problems, contact a computer technician for assistance. They should be able to determine what the issue is and provide a solution.
