If your monitor is displaying abnormally, there are a few steps you can take to try and fix the issue.
First, power cycle the monitor and computer. To do this, turn off the monitor, unplug the power cord from the back of the monitor, wait a few seconds, and then plug it back in. You should also power cycle your computer by turning it off and unplugging it for a few seconds before powering it back on. This resets both pieces of hardware and can often resolve display problems.
Second, check to see if the video cable between the monitor and the computer is securely connected. If the connection isn’t secure, it can cause display issues. Make sure that both ends of the video cable are firmly plugged in. If you’re using an HDMI cable, make sure it’s inserted fully into the port on the monitor.
Third, adjust the settings of your monitor. Look through the settings menu of your monitor and make any necessary adjustments to try and resolve the display issue. Make sure the refresh rate is set to the optimal setting, the resolution is correct, and the color profile is set correctly.
Fourth, update your computer’s graphics drivers. It’s important to keep your computer’s graphics drivers up to date in order to ensure that everything runs smoothly. Outdated graphics drivers can cause display problems. To update your graphics drivers, open the Device Manager, locate the graphics device, right-click it, and select “Update Driver Software.”
Fifth, reset the monitor to factory settings. If all else fails, you can always reset your monitor to its factory settings. This will restore all the settings to their default values and may help resolve the issue. Check the manual that came with your monitor to find out how to reset it to its factory settings.
If none of these steps work and your monitor is still displaying abnormally, you may need to take it in for repairs or replacement. Depending on the age and condition of the monitor, it might be cheaper to buy a new one than to repair it.
