Zip files can be created and compressed on both Windows and Mac computer systems.
Windows:
1. Select the file or folder you want to compress.
2. Right-click on the file or folder, then select “Send To” followed by “Compressed (zipped) Folder”.
3. A new zipped folder will be created alongside the original file or folder. The new folder will have the same name as the file or folder, but with the additional “.zip” at the end.
Mac:
1. Select the file or folder you want to compress.
2. Right-click on the file or folder or press the control key while clicking on the file or folder.
3. Select “Compress [file/folder name]” from the context menu.
4. A new compressed file will be created alongside the original file or folder. The new file will have the same name as the file or folder, but with the additional “.zip” at the end.
To open a zip file,
Windows:
1. Double-click the zip folder to open it.
2. Extract the file or folder by right-clicking on the file or folder and selecting “Extract All”.
3. Follow the instructions in the pop-up window to finish extracting the files or folders.
Mac:
1. Double-click the zip folder.
2. An unzipped version of the file or folder will appear next to the zipped folder. You can now access the file or folder as normal.
