You can turn Windows Defender off and on to help keep your computer secure. There are a few different ways to do this, depending on which version of Windows you are running.
1. Windows 10
If you are running Windows 10, the easiest way to turn Windows Defender off and on is to open the Start Menu, type “Windows Security” in the search box, and then click on the “Windows Defender Security Center” icon that appears.
Once the Windows Defender Security Center window opens, click on “Virus & threat protection” in the left-hand pane. Next, click on “Manage settings” under “Real-time protection”, and then toggle the switch to either turn it on or off, depending on your preference.
2. Windows 8 and 8.1
If you are running Windows 8 or 8.1, you can turn Windows Defender on and off by opening the Charms Bar (by pressing the Windows key + C) and selecting “Settings”. Next, select “Change PC settings” and then “Update and recovery”.
From here, you should see an option to turn “Windows Defender” on or off. Simply toggle the switch, and Windows Defender will be activated or deactivated accordingly.
3. Windows 7
In Windows 7, you can turn Windows Defender on and off by navigating to the Start Menu, clicking on “Control Panel”, and then selecting “System and Security”. From here, select “Security Center” from the options, followed by “Windows Defender”.
Under the “Real-time protection” section, you should see an option to turn “Windows Defender” on and off. You can select the appropriate option to activate or deactivate Windows Defender.
It is important to note that when Windows Defender is turned off, your computer is not protected against viruses and malware. Therefore, if you are going to turn Windows Defender off, it is highly recommended that you use a different antivirus program instead.
