Windows Defender is a built-in feature of the Windows operating system. It provides anti-virus and anti-spyware protection for your personal computer, laptop, or tablet. Windows Defender works in conjunction with other security solutions to help protect your device from malicious programs, viruses, and other threats.
Turning On Windows Defender
1. Open the Start menu.
2. Type “Windows Security” into the search bar.
3. Click on the app that appears.
4. Select “Virus & threat protection” in the menu on the left side of the screen.
5. Click on “Turn on real-time protection.”
6. Windows Defender will then launch and will start protecting your computer from threats.
7. It will also turn on other security settings such as Firewall.
Turning Off Windows Defender
1. Open the Start menu.
2. Type “Windows Security” into the search bar.
3. Click on the app that appears.
4. Select “Virus & threat protection” in the menu on the left side of the screen.
5. Click on “Turn off real-time protection.”
6. Click on “Yes” to confirm the action.
7. Windows Defender will stop running and will no longer provide any sort of protection for your computer.
Note: Before you turn off Windows Defender, it is strongly recommended that you install a third-party antivirus software to replace it. Doing so will help keep your computer safe and secure.
