Reinstalling a driver in Windows 2000 in Safe Mode is a simple process, but it does require some steps that you may not be familiar with. The following instructions explain the process of reinstalling a driver in Safe Mode.
1. Restart your computer and press F8 to enter the Windows 2000 Boot Menu.
2. Using your arrow keys, select “Safe Mode” and press enter.
3. Once Windows 2000 has loaded, select the “Start” menu, then “Settings” and “Control Panel”.
4. Open the “System” control panel.
5. Select the “Device Manager” tab.
