Windows Defender is built into the Microsoft Windows operating system and is enabled by default on Windows-based computers. It provides protection against spyware, viruses, ransomware, and other malicious software threats.
To open Windows Defender, you can use the Start menu or Cortana search bar.
1. Using the Start Menu:
a. Click the Windows logo in the bottom left corner of the screen to open the Start menu.
b. Type “defender” in the search bar and click “Windows Defender” when it appears in the search results.
c. The Windows Defender window will open.
2. Using Cortana Search Bar:
a. Click the Cortana search bar on the taskbar.
b. Type “defender” and press Enter.
c. The Windows Defender window will open.
Once Windows Defender is open, you can check for virus and malware protection updates, scan your computer for threats, or access advanced settings. You can also adjust the level of protection, configure how Windows Defender works with other security programs, or exclude specific files or programs from scanning.
