To open a ZIP archive in Windows, you need to first locate the file on your computer. ZIP archives can typically be found in your Downloads folder or sent to you as an email attachment.
Once you have located the file, double-click it to open the ZIP folder. This will open the folder in File Explorer (if using Windows 8 or 10). You can also right-click the file and select “Extract All” or “Open with…” depending on the version of Windows you are using.
If you use the “Extract All” option, a window will open asking where you would like to save the extracted files. Choose the location where you would like to save them and click “Extract.” This will create a new folder containing all the files from the archive. You can then open the extracted files just like any other type of file.
If you chose to open the ZIP file with an application, you will see a list of the files in the archive. You can then select the files you want to extract by clicking the checkbox next to each one. Once you have selected the files you want to extract, click the Extract button to save them to the location of your choice.
The above instructions apply to newer versions of Windows (8 and 10). If you are using an older version of Windows, such as Windows XP, please consult your operating system’s help guide for specific instructions.
