To move a file from one folder to another in Windows, you can use either the drag-and-drop method or the cut-and-paste method.
Drag-and-Drop Method
1. Open both the source folder and the destination folder. You can open multiple folders by accessing the File Explorer (formerly known as Windows Explorer) from the taskbar or by searching for it in the Start Menu.
2. Select the file you want to move by left clicking it once. Then, you can select multiple files at once by left-clicking each of them while holding down the Ctrl key.
3. Hold down the left mouse button and drag the selected files to the destination folder. The folder will appear with a black plus sign on it when the pointer hovers over it.
4. Release the mouse button. Your files will now be moved to the destination folder.
Cut-and-Paste Method
3. Right click the selected files and choose Cut from the pop-up menu.
4. Right click an empty space inside the destination folder and choose Paste from the pop-up menu. This will move your selected files to the destination folder.
Using the Command Line
You can also move files from one folder to another using the command line. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Open the command prompt from the Start Menu.
2. Type “move [source file] [destination folder]” and press enter. This will move the file from the source folder to the destination folder.
For example, if you wanted to move a file called “example.txt” from the “C:\Documents” folder to the “C:\Downloads” folder, you would type “move C:\Documents\example.txt C:\Downloads” and press enter. This will move the file to the destination folder.
Using File Manager
The File Manager tool in Windows 10 allows you to easily move files from one folder to another. To access the File Manager, type “File Manager” into the search box on the taskbar and press enter.
From the File Manager, you can drag and drop files between folders, or you can use the Move to option from the right-click menu. Select the file(s) you want to move, right-click them, and select Move to from the menu.
Once the Move to window opens, select the destination folder and click Move. Your files will be moved to the new location.
