To check if your computer has the most up-to-date version of Windows Defender, you can use either the Windows Security Center or Microsoft’s Windows Update.
Using the Windows Security Center:
1. Open the Start Menu and locate the “Security” folder.
2. Click on “Security Center.”
3. On the left-hand side of the window, select “Windows Defender.”
4. A new window will appear with an overview of the current status of Windows Defender. Make sure it says “Protected” in the Overview tab.
5. Look at the Product version, located in the Details tab. It should be the most recent version.
Using Windows Update:
1. Open the Start Menu and select “Control Panel.”
2. Select “System and Security.”
3. Choose “Windows Update.”
4. Look for the updates related to Windows Defender.
5. If there are updates available, select the one for Windows Defender and install it.
Updating Windows Defender can provide your computer with better protection against viruses and malicious software. To ensure optimal security, be sure to check the Windows Security Center or Windows Update every once in a while to make sure your computer is running the most up-to-date version of Windows Defender.
