Installing Fonts in the Windows Control Panel
Installing new fonts on a computer running a Windows operating system is simple, and can be done directly through the Windows Control Panel. Below are some basic steps to follow:
1. Open the Windows Control Panel. This can be done by typing “Control Panel” into the search bar in the bottom left-hand corner of your screen if you are running Windows 8.1 or later, or by searching for it in the Start Menu if you are running Windows 7.
2. Once the control panel is open, select the option for “Fonts”. This is typically found under the Appearance and Personalization section of the control panel.
3. After selecting the fonts option, you will be presented with a window that shows the list of fonts currently installed on your computer. In the top right-hand corner of this window, there should be an option labeled “Install New Font…”. Select this option.
4. This will bring up another window, where you can navigate to the location on your computer where you have saved the font files which you wish to install. Select the font files which you would like to install, and click the “Install” button at the top of the window.
5. The selected font files will then be installed, and should appear in the list of fonts in the Control Panel window. You can now select the newly installed fonts whenever you wish to use them in a document.
6. After the fonts have been installed, you can further customize how they appear by going to the Fonts window in the Control Panel, clicking on the font which you wish to configure, and then selecting the “Settings” option. Here, you will be able to edit the font size, font style, and other properties.
