1. Shut down your computer and disconnect all cables and peripherals.
2. Open your computer case. Depending on the case, you may need to remove a side panel or use screws to open the cover.
3. Locate your memory banks. Depending on your motherboard, you may have one, two, or four banks.
4. Unscrew the retaining clips on each of the memory slots and carefully lift out the old memory modules.
5. Insert the new memory module(s). Line up the notches in the module with the sockets in the memory banks, then carefully seat the module(s). Securely fasten the retaining clips.
6. Replace the case cover, screws, and any panels you removed during the installation process.
7. Reconnect all cables and peripherals.
8. Power up your computer, open the system configuration utility, and check to make sure the new memory is detected.
9. If necessary, adjust the settings to ensure the computer is making full use of the installed memory.
10. Finally, reboot the computer to save the changes.
