Parental Controls in Windows Control Panel is a feature that allows parents and guardians to monitor, control and restrict their children’s access to certain computer activities, websites and programs. By using Parental Controls, parents can protect their children from inappropriate online content and services, as well as ensure they aren’t accessing sites or services that might put them at risk. Here’s how to enable Parental Controls in Windows Control Panel.
1. Start by opening the Control Panel. To do this, click on the Start menu, then type ‘control panel’ into the search bar. Click on the result to open the Control Panel.
2. In the Control Panel, click on the “User Accounts and Family Safety” option.
3. Under “Family Safety”, select “Set up Parental Controls for Any User”.
4. Select the user account you want to set parental controls for, then click “On”. This will open the Parental Controls settings window.
5. Here you will find several settings for Parental Controls:
• Game Restrictions – you can use this setting to restrict access to certain games or categories of games.
• Web Filtering – this setting allows you to adjust the web filtering level and block certain website categories.
• Application Restrictions – here you can choose which applications your child can use, as well as restrict access to certain application categories.
• Time Limits – this setting allows you to set specific time limits for computer usage and restrict access after certain times.
• View/Change Existing Settings – this will show you all of the existing settings you have enabled.
6. Depending on your preferences, you can adjust and restrict settings for each category. When you are done, click “OK”.
7. You can also choose to apply these settings to all users on the computer, or just the user you selected. If you want to apply the settings to all users, select the “Apply To All Users” option and click “OK”.
Once the settings have been applied, your children will only be able to access websites, programs, and games that you approve. You can also use the Parental Controls to restrict access to social networking websites and services, as well as monitor and track your children’s online activities. By using Parental Controls in Windows Control Panel, you can ensure that your children are safe when using the computer.
