In Windows 10, Cortana is an intelligent personal assistant that helps users to manage their day-to-day activities and provide information quickly. Cortana can be enabled or disabled as needed in Windows 10.
To enable Cortana, open the start menu then click on the cog wheel to open Windows Settings. Select the “Cortana” option from the left side of the window and then switch the “Cortana can give you suggestions, ideas, reminders, alerts and more” toggle to “On”.
Once Cortana has been enabled, the user will see a “Welcome to Cortana” message. The user can then read through the information about how Cortana works and how to interact with it. After this is done, Cortana will be ready for use.
To disable Cortana, navigate back to the settings menu and select the “Cortana” option. Then switch the “Cortana can give you suggestions, ideas, reminders, alerts and more” toggle to “Off” which will disable Cortana. Once disabled, the user can still access the search bar but without the voice assistant features.
If the user wants further customizations of Cortana, then they can click on the “Manage Cortana” button to open up additional options. These options let the user customize how Cortana interacts with them including setting reminders, dictating emails, scheduling meetings and more.
By enabling or disabling Cortana, the user can customize their experience with the voice assistant and select the most appropriate settings depending on their usage. With these settings, Windows 10 users can take full advantage of the intelligent assistant and ensure that their favorite features are available whenever they need them.
