Windows Defender is an anti-malware program developed by Microsoft for Windows 7, 8 and 10 operating systems. It is designed to detect, prevent and remove malicious software including viruses, spyware, rootkits and Trojans.
To download Windows Defender, the first step is to open the Microsoft website.
1. On the homepage, select “Windows Security” from the left hand menu.
2. Scroll down and select the “Download Now” button.
3. If prompted, enter your email address and click “Continue”.
4. On the following page, select the version of Windows that you are using.
5. Select the “Download” button to begin downloading the installer.

Once the installation is complete, Windows Defender will be running and protecting your computer. To access the program, simply open your start menu and type “Windows Defender” into the search box.
You can also access Windows Defender via the Control Panel, by going to Start > Control Panel > Security > Windows Defender. Here you can configure settings, run scans and check the status of your protection.
If you ever come across any suspicious files or websites, you can make use of Windows Defender’s built in scan feature which allows you to quickly check files and sites for potential threats. To do this, simply right-click on any file or link, select “Scan with Windows Defender” and follow the onscreen instructions.
