Instructions for Clearing a Paper Jam
1. Turn off your printer and unplug the power cable.
2. Reach inside the printer and open the access door. Depending on the model of printer, this door may be at the front, back, or side of the printer. Some doors have a release latch that needs to be pressed before the door will open.
3. Carefully remove any jammed paper from the printer. Always pull the paper in the direction of the paper path.
4. Look for any loose pieces of paper or toner that may be causing the jam. Remove them carefully so as to not cause any further jams.
5. Check for any obstructions in the paper path, such as wrinkles or small pieces of paper or other debris. If there are any, remove them as best you can without damaging any of the components.
6. Close the access door and plug the power cable back in.
7. Turn the printer back on and test it. Place a blank sheet of paper into the tray and select a small print job to test.
8. If the printer prints the test job successfully, then the jam has been resolved.
If the paper jam persists, try the following troubleshooting suggestions:
• Make sure you are using the correct type of paper for your printer. Refer to your user manual for guidance on paper types.
• Check to make sure the paper is inserted correctly into the paper tray. The paper should be aligned with the edge guides.
• Check for any loose parts inside the paper tray that may be causing the jam.
• Clean the printer to remove any dust or debris that may be clogging up the paper path. Refer to your user manual for instructions on how to clean the printer.
• Inspect the feed roller and clean it, if necessary. Refer to your user manual for instructions on how to clean the feed roller.
• Check the printer settings to make sure they are set up correctly.
• Contact the manufacturer of your printer if the problem persists. They may be able to offer additional advice on how to resolve your issue.
