1. Select Start > Settings > System > Power & sleep.
2. Under Related settings, select Additional power settings.
3. Choose a power plan that fits your needs and preferences. Options might include Balanced, Power Saver, and High Performance.
4. Select Change plan settings next to the plan you want to change.
5. Adjust the plan’s settings for when the computer sleeps, how long it takes for the screen to turn off, and how dim the screen should be.
6. Select Save changes.
7. In the same window, under Advanced settings, select Change advanced power settings.
8. Adjust each category’s settings to suit your needs. For example, you can turn off USB selective suspend setting and Wi-Fi power saving mode if you use wireless peripherals or Wi-Fi regularly.
9. Select OK.
10. Select Change when the computer sleeps in the left pane, then adjust the Turn off display and Put the computer to sleep settings to the time frames you want.
11. Select Save changes.
