There are many ways to save an image in a different file format, each depending on the image editing program you are using. Below are instructions for some of the most commonly used image editing programs.
Adobe Photoshop:
1. Open the image you want to save in an alternate file format in Photoshop.
2. Select “File” from the top menu and click on “Save As”.
3. A dialogue window will appear. In this window, select the desired file type from the drop-down list.
4. To save the image with the same quality settings as the original, select the “Same as Source” option at the bottom of the dialogue window.
5. If the image contains layers and you want to save them for future editing, choose the “Layers” option from the “Save As” menu.
6. Click “OK” to save the image with the new file format.
GIMP:
1. Open the image you want to save in an alternate file format in GIMP.
2. Select “File” from the top menu and click on “Save As”.
3. A dialogue window will appear. In this window, select the desired file type from the list of available formats.
4. Click on the “Quality” tab, and select the quality setting you desire.
5. To save the image with the same quality settings as the original, select the “Same as Source” option at the bottom of the dialogue window.
6. If the image contains layers and you want to save them for future editing, choose the “Save with Layers” option from the “Save As” menu.
7. Click “OK” to save the image with the new file format.
Microsoft Paint:
1. Open the image you want to save in an alternate file format in Microsoft Paint.
2. Select “File” from the top menu and click on “Save As”.
3. A dialogue window will appear. In this window, select the desired file type from the list of available formats.
4. To save the image with the same quality settings as the original, select the “Same as Source” option at the bottom of the dialogue window.
