The Windows Firewall is a network security feature of the Microsoft Windows operating system that filters incoming and outgoing data traffic, screens for threats and prevents unwanted connections. It is designed to protect your computer from malicious software and hackers.
To open and manage the Windows Firewall, you can use the Windows Firewall Control Panel applet, or alternatively the Windows Defender Security Center.
Step 1: Open the Windows Firewall
1. Click the Start button and type “Windows firewall” in the search box
2. Select Windows Firewall with Advanced Security from the list of results
3. This will open the Windows Firewall control panel

Step 3: Create Rules for the Firewall
1. In the Windows Firewall control panel, click on “New Rule” in the left sidebar
2. This will open the “New Inbound Rule Wizard” window
3. Choose the type of rule you want to create, such as allow specific ports, applications or programs
4. Give the new rule a name and specify the conditions under which it should be allowed
5. Choose whether to allow the rule or block it
6. Click Finish to save the rule
Step 4: Monitor the Firewall Logs
1. In the Windows Firewall control panel, click on “Windows Firewall Properties” in the left sidebar
2. This will open the Logging settings
3. Here, you can enable and configure the Logging feature
4. The log will record all allowed and blocked connections
5. You can view the log by clicking on “View Log”
Step 5: Check Your Firewall Status
1. In the Windows Firewall control panel, click on “Advanced Settings” in the left sidebar
2. This will open the “Windows Firewall Settings” window
3. Here, you can check the status of the firewall, including how many rules are active and whether logging is enabled
4. You can also view the list of active rules and edit them if needed
