Windows Defender is a built-in security software that comes with Microsoft Windows, and provides protection against all types of malware and viruses, including spyware. In order to enable Windows Defender, there are a few simple steps that must be taken. First, make sure you have the most up-to-date version of Windows installed. If you’re not running Windows 10, you’ll need to upgrade in order to use Windows Defender. You can check your version by typing “winver” into the search box in the taskbar.
Once you have the latest version installed, open the Settings app by clicking the Start button and selecting the gear icon.
In the Settings window, select “Update & Security”. Once the menu opens, click on “Windows Security”. This will take you to the Windows Security Center.
On the left side of the Windows Security Center window, select “Virus & threat protection”. On the right side, click “Manage settings”. Make sure the toggle switch under “Real-time protection” is turned on. This will enable Windows Defender and start protecting your device.
Alternatively, you can also enable Windows Defender from the Control Panel. To access the Control Panel, press the Windows key + R, type “control”, and press enter. From here, select “System and Security” and then “Security and Maintenance”. On the left side of the window, select “Open Windows Defender”, and then click “Turn on now”.
That’s it! Windows Defender is now enabled and will start protecting your device. You can monitor its status by visiting the Windows Security Center, or by checking the notifications area in the taskbar.
