There are several ways to compress a folder or file in Windows.
Method 1: Using Windows File Compression
1. Right-click the file or folder you want to compress.
2. Select “Send To” and then choose “Compressed (zipped) folder.”
3. Windows will create a compressed version of the file or folder, indicated by a zipper icon on the file or folder.
4. You can rename the zipped folder to anything you like.
5. To open the compressed folder, double-click the zipper icon.
6. To add files to your compression file, drag and drop files into the zipped folder.
7. To delete files from your compressed folder, right-click the file you want to delete and select “Delete.”
Method 2: Using WinRAR
1. Download and install WinRAR, a file archiving program available on the web.
2. Once installed, right-click the file or folder and select “Add to archive…” or “Add to [file name].rar.”
3. In the “Archive name and parameters” window that appears, select the type of archive (such as RAR or ZIP). Then, choose the compression level and other options, if desired.
4. Click “OK” to compress the file or folder.
5. To open a compressed file, double-click it.
6. To add files to your compression file, drag and drop files into the zipped folder.
7. To delete files from your compressed folder, right-click the file you want to delete and select “Delete.”
Method 3: Using 7-Zip
1. Download and install 7-Zip, a free, open-source archiving program available on the web.
2. Once installed, right-click the file or folder and select “7-Zip” and then “Add to archive….”
3. In the “Add to Archive” window that appears, select the type of archive (such as RAR or ZIP). Then, choose the compression level and other options, if desired.
4. Click “OK” to compress the file or folder.
5. To open a compressed file, double-click it.
6. To add files to your compression file, drag and drop files into the zipped folder.
7. To delete files from your compressed folder, right-click the file you want to delete and select “Delete.”
