Changing your desktop background in Windows 10 is a simple and straightforward process.
First, right-click on the desktop, then select “Personalize” from the menu that appears.
Once you’ve opened up the Personalization window, select the “Background” option from the menu on the left side of the screen.
The background page should now appear, and it will give you the option to select either an image, solid color, or slideshow of images for your background. If you want to select an image, click the dropdown menu at the top of the page and choose either “Picture” or “Slideshow.”
If you choose to select a picture for your background, you will be presented with two options: selecting a file from your computer, or selecting one of the provided images. To select a file from your computer, click the “Browse” button and locate the image you wish to use. Once selected, the image will automatically be set as your desktop background.
If you choose to select one of the provided images, they are broken down into four categories: Windows spotlight, Featured, Solid Colors, or Browse.
Windows spotlight provides preselected wallpapers that have been selected by Microsoft.
The Featured section includes a selection of professional-quality photos, courtesy of Microsoft.
The Solid Colors section allows you to select a single color for your background. Just click on the color you want to use and it will be applied immediately.
Finally, the Browse section contains a library of thousands of high-resolution stock images that you can use for your desktop background.
Once you’ve chosen a background, you can customize it further by adjusting the brightness or adding a blur effect.
To adjust the brightness, use the slider at the bottom of the window. Move the slider left to darken the background or right to lighten it.
To add a blur effect, just select the checkbox beneath the brightness slider. Now your background will appear slightly blurred, giving it a softer look.
After you’re done customizing your background, click the “Save Changes” button at the bottom of the window. Your background should now be updated and you’re all set!
