1. Open the Control Panel.
2. Click on “Sound” under the heading “Hardware and Sound”.
3. A window will open displaying sound-related settings. The first page shows a list of playback and recording devices, as well as volume settings, with the default being the active device/setting.
4. To select a different device/setting, click on the drop-down menu next to the current device or setting. A list of avaliable devices will appear. Select the desired device or setting you wish to adjust.
5. Once a new device/setting has been selected, the corresponding settings page will appear. On this page you will be able to adjust various settings such as volume, balance, type of sound output, etc.
6. To adjust the volume of the device, use the slider to change the level of sound output for each device.
7. Also on this page, there is a check box to enable/disable the sound device. If the device is enabled, it will be used by the system.
8. To adjust more specific sound settings for a device, click on the “Advanced” button. This will open a new window with tabs for each sound-related feature (e.g., Speakers, Microphone, Communications, etc.).
9. The available features will vary depending on the type of device you are adjusting. For example, if you are configuring the settings for your speakers, you will be able to adjust the audio quality settings, such as bass and treble, and speaker type settings, such as 2.1 or 5.1 surround sound.
10. When you have finished changing the sound settings, click the “OK” button to save your changes.
11. After making the necessary adjustments, you can close the Control Panel window.
