Bitmain, the leading manufacturer of Bitcoin ASICs, has unveiled its new air-cooled BTC miner, the Antminer T21. The announcement was made at the Blockchain Life 2023 Forum in Dubai, where Bitmain was a “diamond sponsor.” The Antminer T21 is designed to withstand high ambient temperatures up to 45 degrees Celsius and is expected to start shipping in January 2024. It supports the SHA256 mining algorithm and offers a computing power of 190 terahashes per second with an energy efficiency ratio of 19 joules per terahash. Buyers of the Antminer T21 also have the option to participate in Bitmain’s price protection plan, which compensates customers in the event of a decline in BTC price. Bitmain’s new release comes as other major ASIC manufacturers like Canaan continue to introduce new mining devices. Despite the challenges faced by the ASIC industry in recent years, there is still significant interest and demand for these specialized mining machines. Gensler, the Chair of the SEC, delivered a speech at the Securities Enforcement Forum, in which he highlighted the agency’s enforcement actions in the cryptocurrency market. He emphasized that most cryptocurrencies fall under the securities bracket and should be regulated accordingly. Gensler drew parallels between the current crypto ecosystem and the financial landscape of the 1920s, pointing out the need for stricter regulations to prevent scams and frauds. However, his statements have been met with mixed reactions from the crypto community, with some calling for more clarity on crypto regulations.
