If your display settings are not showing correctly on your Windows system, there are a few different approaches you can take to try and fix the issue.
1. Update or Reinstall Graphics Drivers
If you have an outdated graphics driver, this could be causing display issues. You should check whether your graphics driver needs to be updated or reinstalled by right-clicking on the Start button, selecting Device Manager and looking for the Display Adapter section. Right-click on the entry, select Update Driver and then follow the onscreen instructions.
Alternatively, you can uninstall the graphics driver and then reinstall the latest version from the manufacturer’s website.
2. Adjust video scaling settings
If your display settings are not showing correctly because the image is stretched or distorted, you can try adjusting the video scaling settings. To do this, right-click on the desktop and select Display Settings. Under Scale and Layout, look for the Change the size of text, apps and other items setting and adjust it to the recommended size for your display.
3. Reset the display settings
If all else fails, you can reset the display settings back to their defaults. To do this, open the Settings app, select System, then Display, and then click the Advanced display settings option at the bottom. Here you’ll find a Reset button which will reset the display settings back to their defaults.
4. Check the monitor
If none of the above have worked, then the problem may lie with the monitor itself. You should check that all the cables are connected correctly and that the monitor is set up correctly. If the problem still persists, then you may need to replace the monitor.
5. Check system files
Sometimes display issues can be caused by corrupted or missing system files. To check the system files you can run a System File Checker scan. This will check all the system files on your computer and replace any that are corrupted or missing. To do this, open an elevated command prompt (select Run as Administrator) and type sfc/scannow and press Enter.
6. Perform a clean boot
If your display settings are not showing up correctly when you start your computer, you should try performing a Clean Boot. This will help to eliminate any third-party services or software that might be causing the issue. To do this, open the System Configuration utility, go to the Selective Startup tab, uncheck the Load startup items check box and then reboot the computer.
7. Reinstall Windows
If the display issue persists after trying the above solutions, then you may need to reinstall Windows. This should resolve any system-level problems or conflicts that may be causing the issue with your display settings. To do this, open the Settings app, select Update & Security and then click the Recovery option on the left. Here you’ll be able to reinstall Windows.
By following these steps, you should be able to solve any issues you have with your display settings not showing correctly on your Windows system.
