1. Check the Wi-Fi router and modem:
The first step to take when attempting to troubleshoot an issue connecting to the Internet with a Wi-Fi connection is to ensure that the Wi-Fi router and modem are properly connected and configured. Check that the router is plugged in and turned on, that cables are properly connected both to the modem and the router, and that all lights appear to be functioning properly. Additionally, make sure that the modem is correctly connected to a working cable line or your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
2. Check the Wi-Fi settings:
Once you have verified that the router and modem are communicating properly, the next step is to check your Wi-Fi settings. Ensure that the network name and password are correct, and that the router is using the same network settings for both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands (if applicable). Also, make sure that the security protocol you are using is compatible with the devices that are trying to connect to the Wi-Fi network.
3. Reset the Wi-Fi router and modem:
If the Wi-Fi network is still not able to connect to the internet, you should try resetting the router and modem. To do this, turn off the power to both the router and modem, wait at least two minutes, and then power them back on. If needed, you can try resetting the router and/or modem to their factory default settings. Resetting the router and modem will clear any misconfigurations and errors, and should help restore the connection.
4. Check other connected devices:
If all of the above steps have been taken and the Wi-Fi network is still unable to connect to the internet, it’s possible that other connected devices may be interfering with the signal. Try disconnecting any other devices that are connected to your home network and see if this resolves the issue.
5. Check the ISP:
Finally, if all of the above steps have been exhausted and the Wi-Fi network still isn’t able to connect to the internet, it’s possible that there is an issue with your ISP. Contact your ISP and ask them to check for any outages or network issues that may be affecting your connection.
