1. Update your display driver
One of the most common causes of graphical glitches on Windows is that your display driver is out of date. To ensure that your system is running on the latest display driver, open the Device Manager in Windows and select “Display adapters”. Right-click on your display adapter and select the “Update driver” option. From there, you can select “Search automatically for updated driver software” to let Windows search for and automatically install the latest driver version for your device.
2. Adjust your graphic settings
Another potential fix for graphical glitches is to take a look at the advanced graphics settings for your game or application. You may be able to manually adjust settings such as resolution, aspect ratio, anti-aliasing, vertical sync and more to improve your experience.
3. Check for overheating
If your computer is overheating, it can cause graphical glitches. To confirm that this isn’t the case, open up your computer case and clean out the dust from inside. This will help keep the components cool and prevent them from becoming damaged or overworked. It’s also worth checking your fan speeds. If they’re running too slow or aren’t spinning correctly, you can replace them with better-quality fans to ensure that your system is kept cool.
4. Perform a clean boot
Sometimes third-party programs can interfere with Windows services and cause graphical glitches. To isolate the problem, perform a clean boot by disabling any non-essential programs from running at startup. To do this, type “msconfig” into the Start menu and open the System Configuration window. From there, go to the “Services” tab and check the box next to “Hide all Microsoft services”. Click “Disable all” and then restart your computer.
5. Scan for malware
Malware can cause all sorts of issues with your system, including graphical glitches. To ensure that the issue isn’t being caused by malicious software, run a full scan of your computer using a reputable anti-virus program.
6. Reinstall your game or application
If all else fails, try reinstalling the game or application that you’re having issues with. This will replace any corrupted files and may help to fix the graphical glitch.
