There are several different ways to extract a Zip file in Windows, depending on which version of the operating system you have installed.
Windows 10
The most recent version of Windows includes an inbuilt tool to extract Zip files. Right-click the Zip file and select Extract All. You will be asked to specify a destination where the folder will be extracted to. Select the folder, then click Extract. The folder’s contents will then be extracted to the destination folder. If a file or folder with the same name already exists in the destination folder, the Extract All dialog box will provide the option to either replace the existing file or skip it.
Windows 8
To extract a Zip file in Windows 8, right-click the file and select Extract All. Specify a destination for the folder to be extracted to, then click Extract. The contents of the Zip file will be extracted to the specified location.
Windows 7
If you are using Windows 7, you must download a third-party compression utility to extract the Zip file. Some of the most popular compression programs are WinZip, WinRAR, and 7-Zip. Once you have downloaded and installed the program, right-click the Zip file and select the program from the list. Select the destination for the folder to be extracted to, then click the Extract button. The contents of the Zip file will be extracted to the specified location.
