Compressing a file or folder on Windows is relatively easy, but the exact process may differ depending on the version of Windows you’re running. Here’s how you can compress a file or folder on Windows 10.
1. Navigate to the folder that contains the files or folders you wish to compress.
2. Right-click on the file or folder you want to compress, then select “Send To” and click “Compressed (zipped) Folder.”
3. A new ZIP folder will appear in the same directory as the original file or folder. This ZIP folder has the same name as the original folder plus the extension “.zip.”
4. You can double-click the ZIP folder to open it. The contents of the original folder are now inside the ZIP folder.
5. To add files to the ZIP folder, simply drag and drop them into the folder.
6. To remove files from the ZIP folder, select the file(s) you wish to remove and press the Delete key on your keyboard.
7. You can also rename the ZIP folder if you wish. To do this, right-click on the ZIP folder and select “Rename.” Enter a new name for the folder and press the Enter key.
8. To delete the ZIP folder and its contents, right-click on the ZIP folder and select “Delete.”
9. You can also compress multiple files and/or folders simultaneously. To do this, select all the files/folders you wish to compress, right-click one of them, then select “Send To” and click “Compressed (zipped) Folder.”
10. A new ZIP folder will appear in the same directory. All the selected files and folders will be compressed into this single ZIP folder.
11. Finally, you can easily compress a file or folder in Windows Explorer. To do this, simply select the file/folder you wish to compress, right-click on it, then select “Properties.” In the Properties window, select the “Advanced” tab and check the box marked “Compress contents to save disk space.” Press the OK button to finish.
