PowerPoint is a slideshow presentation program developed by Microsoft. It can be used to create slideshows, presentations, and other forms of multimedia content. PowerPoint files are saved with the .ppt or .pptx file extension.
There are several different ways to open and view PowerPoint files, depending on the device or platform that you’re using.
On Windows:
1. Open PowerPoint: PowerPoint comes pre-installed on most Windows computers, and it can be accessed through the Microsoft Office folder or the Start menu. You may be prompted to enter your Microsoft account details, or input your product key if this is the first time you’re opening it.
2. Locate the PowerPoint file: Once the PowerPoint program has been opened, the next step is to locate the file you want to open. You can use the File > Open menu to search for the file on your computer, or use the Browse button to open an Explorer window and locate the file manually.
3. View the PowerPoint file: Once you’ve located the PowerPoint file, you can click on it in the window that appears and then click the Open button to begin viewing the presentation. On the left-hand side of the screen, you’ll see a list of all the slides in the presentation; clicking on each one will open it up in the main work area of the program.
On Mac:
1. Open PowerPoint: Like its Windows counterpart, PowerPoint is usually pre-installed on Mac computers. It can be located in the Microsoft Office folder or in the Applications folder.
2. Locate the PowerPoint file: Once PowerPoint has been opened, you can use the File > Open menu to search for the PowerPoint file on your computer. You can also use the Quick Look Preview feature to quickly scan through the contents of the file.
3. View the PowerPoint file: When you’ve located the file, you can click on it in the window that appears and then click the Open button to begin viewing the presentation. On the left-hand side of the screen, you’ll see a list of all the slides in the presentation; clicking on each one will open it up in the main work area of the program.
On the Web:
If you don’t have access to a computer with PowerPoint installed, you can still view PowerPoint files using the web-based version of the program. To do this, you’ll need to upload the file to a storage service such as Dropbox, Google Drive, or Microsoft OneDrive, then open it from the web-based version of the program.
You may also be able to view PowerPoint files directly in your web browser, depending on the browser and file type. For example, some browsers may be able to open .pptx files directly in the browser window, but you may not be able to open files from other formats, such as .ppsx.
To view a PowerPoint file in your web browser, first locate the file and then click on it to open the preview window. If the file is in a supported file format, the slides should appear within the window. You can then click on each slide to view it in the full view.
On Mobile Devices:
PowerPoint is also available as a mobile application, which can be downloaded from the App Store (for iOS devices) or Google Play Store (for Android devices). Once installed, you can use the app to open PowerPoint files stored on your device or on cloud storage services like Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive.
When viewing a PowerPoint file on a mobile device, you’ll be able to move through the slides in the same way as you would on a desktop or laptop. The mobile version of PowerPoint also includes additional features, such as the ability to highlight important points and record audio, video, or voice narration.
