1. View the details of the detected issue:
If you want to view more details about an issue that Windows Defender has detected, you can open the Windows Defender Security Center by clicking on the shield icon in the Windows taskbar. From there, click on “Virus & Threat Protection” and then “Threat History”. You will then be presented with a list of threats that have been detected. Select the detected threat and you will be taken to a page that lists more information about it, such as the severity level and how Windows Defender dealt with it.
2. Scan for malware with Microsoft Safety Scanner:
The Microsoft Safety Scanner is a free and temporarily available antivirus and anti-malware tool from Microsoft. It can be used to detect and remove viruses, spyware and other malicious software from your computer. To access the tool, go to Microsoft’s website and click the “Download” button to download and install the software. Once the tool is installed, you can scan your systems with it to check if any malicious software is present. If any malicious software is found, it will be displayed in the results and you can then take action to remove it.
3. Use Windows Defender Offline scan:
The Windows Defender Offline scan is a built-in security scan tool that runs outside of normal Windows operation. It can help to detect and remove malware that is hidden deep within your system and is particularly useful for spotting rootkits and other hard-to-find malicious threats. To access it, go to the Start menu, type “windows defender” into the search box and select the option for “Windows Defender Offline scan”. Once the scan is complete, it will display the results and you can take action on any threats that were detected.
4. Uninstall the suspicious program:
In some cases, Windows Defender may detect a program that is suspicious or unrecognized. If this happens, you can try uninstalling the program as one of the steps to remove the threat. To do this, open the Control Panel and then click on “Programs”. From here, select the program that Windows Defender detected and click on the “Uninstall” button. Once the program has been removed, you can then take the necessary steps to remove any remaining malicious components of the program.
5. Restore your system using System Restore:
System Restore is a built-in feature of Windows that allows you to roll back your system to a previous state. This can be useful if Windows Defender has detected an issue as it means that you can undo any changes made by the malicious software and restore your system to a clean state. To access System Restore, go to the Start menu, type “system restore” into the search box and select the option for “Create a restore point”. From here, you can create a restore point and then use it to restore your system to a previous state.
6. Make sure to keep Windows updates up to date:
One of the best ways to prevent Windows Defender from detecting issues is to keep your system up to date. Windows regularly releases important security updates that fix known vulnerabilities in the system and these should always be installed as soon as they are available. To check for updates, open the Start menu and then select the “Settings” icon. From here, click on “Update & Security” and then “Check for Updates”. If any updates are available, you can install them right away.
7. Use a third-party antivirus solution:
Windows Defender is designed to provide basic protection against malicious threats and it may not be enough to protect your system from more advanced threats. If you are worried about the security of your system, it is recommended that you use a third-party antivirus solution to supplement Windows Defender. There are many different antivirus solutions available, so make sure to do your research and find the one that best suits your needs.
