To adjust your browser’s security settings, you first need to open your web browser.
In Chrome:
1) Open Settings. You will find this option in the upper right corner of your browser window, represented by three vertical dots.
2) Select Advanced. At the foot of the Settings page, you’ll see an option labeled Advanced. Click this to open the advanced options.
3) Choose Privacy and security. Scroll down until you reach the Privacy and security heading.
4) Change Site Settings. Click the Site Settings option to open the security settings.
5) Manage Permissions. This will show the different kinds of permissions you can grant or deny websites. Here, you can modify access for individual sites or manage permissions globally.
6) Manage Cookies. Cookies are small bits of information stored on your computer by websites. You can choose to enable or block cookies from certain sites as well as manage them globally.
7) Adjust Security Settings. The security section allows you to control how Chrome handles malicious software, phishing attempts and other potential threats. You can also set up “Safe Browsing” so that Chrome warns you about dangerous sites before you visit them.
8) Adjust Sign-in Settings. If you’ve enabled Google sign-in for your browser, you can make changes to the sign-in settings here.
9) Adjust Notifications. If you want to be notified when a website tries to display notifications, you can toggle the notification setting here.
10) Adjust Flash Settings. You can decide whether to block or allow Adobe Flash Player in Chrome here.
11) Reset Your Browser Settings. This option allows you to reset all browser settings to the defaults.
In Firefox:
1) Open Options. Choose the three horizontal lines menu in the upper right corner of your browser window. Select Options from the menu.
2) Select Privacy and Security. This is located in the left side navigation menu.
3) Manage Cookies. Here, you can control the different kinds of cookies that websites can store on your computer as well as manage cookies from specific domains.
4) Manage Security Settings. This section allows you to make changes to the security settings for Firefox. You can enable or disable phishing and malware protection, set a master password, enable warnings for potentially malicious downloads, and more.
5) Manage Notifications. This option allows you to control when websites ask to show notifications.
6) Manage Pop-up Blocking. This option allows you to control the way Firefox handles pop-ups. You can choose to block pop-ups from all websites, a subset of sites, or configure specific rules for each domain.
7) Manage Data Collection. This section allows you to control how much data Firefox collects about your usage. You can also opt out of marketing and product surveys.
8) Reset All Preferences. This option allows you to reset all browser settings to the defaults.
In Safari:
1) Open Preferences. You can find this option under the Safari menu in the upper left corner.
2) Choose Privacy. This option is located at the top of the preferences window.
3) Manage Cookies. Here, you can manage the different kinds of cookies that websites can store on your computer as well as manage cookies from specific domains.
4) Manage Security Settings. This section allows you to make changes to the security settings for Safari. You can configure settings for fraudulent website warnings, pop-up blocking, malicious code detection, and more.
5) Adjust Notifications. If you want to be notified when a website tries to display notifications, you can toggle the notification setting here.
6) Manage Extensions and Plugins. This section allows you to manage the extensions and plugins installed in Safari.
7) Reset All Preferences. This option allows you to reset all browser settings to the defaults.
