The display brightness of a laptop or desktop computer can be adjusted in a few ways depending on the type of Windows operating system installed.
For Windows 7 and earlier, the display brightness can be adjusted from the Control Panel.

1. Click Start and select Control Panel.
2. Select Appearance and Personalization.
3. Click on Display.
4. Select Change Display Settings from the taskbar.
5. Adjust the brightness of the display to the desired level.
For Windows 8 and above, the display brightness can be adjusted from the Settings charm.
To do so:
1. Swipe in from the right side of the screen.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select Change PC settings.
4. Select PC and devices.
5. Select Power and sleep.
6. Scroll down and select Brightness.
7. Adjust the brightness of the display to the desired level.
Additionally, certain models of computers may have dedicated key combinations to adjust the display brightness. For example, many laptops feature a key combination involving the Function (Fn) key and one or more other keys to control the display brightness.
It is also important to note that many laptops come with an ambient light sensor which adjusts the display brightness based on the current lighting conditions automatically. This setting can usually be adjusted in the display settings of the Control Panel or PC settings.
