Power options in the Control Panel are used to control how your computer uses energy. They let you specify settings for your computer’s power management and auto-shutdown when it’s not in use.
To configure power options in the Control Panel, first navigate to the Start menu and type “Control Panel” in the search box. When the Control Panel appears, select Power Options.
The Power Options window will appear with a variety of settings that you can tweak. To make changes, click the “Change plan settings” link.
This will bring up a page where you can specify settings for your current power plan. You can select one of the predefined plans, such as Balanced, High Performance, or Power Saver. You can also create your own custom plan by selecting “Create a power plan” on the left side of the window.
Once you’ve selected your desired plan, you can view and alter the various settings. Depending on the plan you select, the settings may include things like system sleep, display brightness, and hard drive activity.
You can also set the “turn off display” option to turn off your display after a certain amount of idle time. This is helpful if you’re not actively using your computer and want to save power.
In addition, you can adjust settings related to sleep and hibernate modes. For example, you can set your computer to enter sleep mode after a certain amount of time. You can also choose how long it will take for the computer to wake up from sleep mode.
Finally, you can tweak settings related to power buttons and lid closure. You can configure your computer to do different actions when you press the power button or close the lid of your laptop. For example, you can set it so that pressing the power button puts the computer in sleep mode, or you can set it to shut down the computer when you press the power button.
These are just some of the power options available in the Control Panel. By tweaking these settings, you can customize your computer’s power management and save energy.
