Adjusting your display resolution in the Windows Control Panel is a relatively simple process and can be done in a few steps. The steps outlined in this guide are for Windows 10, but may also apply to other versions of Windows.
Step 1:
Open the Start menu and select Control Panel from the list of options.
Step 2:
On the Control Panel window, select “Appearance and Personalization”.
Step 3:
Select “Display” from the options in the bar on the left side of the window.
Step 4:
In the center of the window, click on the link that says “Change display settings”.
Step 5:
This will open a new window with a drop-down list where you can select your desired display resolution. Depending on your computer and graphics card, different resolutions may be available. Generally, the higher the resolution, the better the image quality will be.
Step 6:
Once you have chosen your desired display resolution, click “Apply”. Your monitor may flash for a few moments as it adjusts and then the new resolution should be applied.
Step 7:
Check to make sure everything looks good with the new resolution and if not, go back and select a different resolution.
If you are satisfied with the new resolution, click “OK” to save the changes. Your display resolution in the Windows Control Panel will now be set to your new selection.
Congratulations, you have successfully adjusted your display resolution in the Windows Control Panel!
