1. Navigate to your “Control Panel” by clicking on the Start Menu.
2. Once you are in the Control Panel, look for the heading “System and Security”.
3. Underneath System and Security, click on the link that says “System”.
4. On the left side of the window, you should see a list of options. Click on the one that says “Change settings”.
5. Click on the tab that says “Computer Name”.
6. You should now see a box containing your computer’s current name.
7. To change the name of your computer, simply type a new name in the box.
8. When you have finished typing in the new name, click on the button that says “Change name”.
9. You will now be prompted to restart your computer.
10. Click on the button that says “Restart Now” and your computer will start up with the new name.
11. Once your computer has rebooted, you can check that your new name is showing correctly.
12. Navigate back to the System and Security window, and click on the link that says “System”.
13. At the top of the window in the middle, you should see the name of your computer. If it is the same as the one you just chose, you have successfully changed the name of your computer in the Windows Control Panel.
