Changing the display resolution of a computer can be a relatively simple procedure, depending on the operating system and hardware of your computer. Generally speaking, there are two ways to change the display resolution: through the operating system settings and through the graphics driver settings.
1. Change Display Resolution Through Operating System
In Windows:
Step 1: Open Settings.
To open the Settings window, go to the Start menu and click on the gear icon in the lower left-hand corner of your screen.
Step 2: Select System.
Once the Settings window is open, select the “System” option.
Step 3: Click on Display.
In the left-hand column of the System window, click on “Display”.
Step 4: Change the resolution.
Under the “Scale and layout” section, change the drop-down menu under “Resolution” to the desired resolution.
In Mac OS X:
Step 1: Open System Preferences.
Go to the Apple menu and click on “System Preferences”.
Step 2: Select Displays.
Once the System Preferences window is open, select “Displays” from the choices displayed.
Step 3: Configure displays.
On the left side of the Displays window, select the monitor that you want to adjust. On the right side of the window, select the desired resolution from the list available.
2. Change Display Resolution Through Graphics Drivers
For most computers, the graphics driver settings will be applied automatically and cannot be changed by the user. However, if you have an advanced graphics card with its own graphics driver, you may be able to adjust the display resolution by accessing the driver settings.
Step 1: Find graphics driver.
To find the graphics driver, open the Control Panel and select “Device Manager”. Expand the “Display Adapters” category and look for your graphics driver.
Step 2: Open driver settings.
Right-click on the driver and select “Properties”. This will open the properties window for the driver.
Step 3: Change resolution.
Navigate to the “Settings” tab and change the resolution using the slider.
Once the desired resolution has been set, you can close the window and the new resolution will be applied.
Changing the display resolution of a computer can be a simple process depending on the operating system and hardware of your computer. By following these steps, you can easily adjust the resolution of your computer’s display to meet your needs.
