1. Launch the Control Panel. On Windows, you can open the Control Panel by pressing the key combination “Windows+R” and typing in “control.” On Mac OS, click the Apple () icon in the upper-left corner of your screen and select “System Preferences.”
2. Click the “Network and Internet” option.
3. Select “Network and Sharing Center” from the menu.
4. In the Network and Sharing Center window, select “Set up a new connection or network.”
5. Choose the type of network you would like to connect to. If it is a protected wireless network, choose “Wireless.” Otherwise, if you’re connecting to an Ethernet network, choose “Ethernet.”
6. Depending on the type of network you have selected, you may be asked to enter a security code or password. If so, enter it and click the “Next” button.
7. If the network is a protected wireless network, enter the SSID (the name of the network) and click the “Next” button.
8. If you are connecting via Ethernet, you will be asked to enter the IP address, subnet mask and gateway address of your computer. Obtain these settings from your network administrator, or by running an IP scanner program.
9. After entering the network settings, click the “Next” button. Your computer should now be connected to the network.
10. To verify the connection, open up your web browser and try loading a web page. If everything has been set up properly, you should be able to browse the web normally.
