process
1. Check the installed RAM: First, you will need to check your computer and find out how much RAM is currently installed. You can do this by searching System Information or System Settings in the Start menu, or by typing system information into Windows search bar. This will open System Information window with all the system specs. Look for Installed Physical Memory (RAM) or “Memory” section.
2. Identify the compatible RAM type: Using the current installed memory, identify the exact RAM type that is currently being used by your system. This can usually be found in the user manual of the motherboard. Ideally, you should get the same type but, if you’re aiming for upgrading a PC, it is also possible to get a RAM with slight difference in clock speed, latency and other parameters.
3. Buy a RAM module: Once you’ve identified the RAM type, do a quick online search and buy a RAM module that is compatible with the current RAM installed on your computer.
4. Replace the RAM module: When the RAM arrives, shut down your computer, unplug all the cables and remove the old RAM module. Then, insert the new RAM module in the appropriate slot. If there is already a RAM module installed, insert the new one in the same slot.
5. Check the RAM installation: Turn on the computer and check if your RAM has been successfully installed. You can do this by opening the System Information window again or by running a system test.
6. Done: Your RAM upgrade is now complete. Enjoy the faster and smoother computer performance!
