1. Clean up temporary files: Open the Start menu and type “Disk Cleanup” into the search bar. When the Disk Cleanup window appears, select the files you want to delete and click OK.
2. Uninstall unused programs: Go to the Control Panel and select “Uninstall a Program”. Select the programs you no longer use and click Uninstall.
3. Defragment hard drive: Open the Start menu and type “defragment” into the search bar. When the Defragment and Optimize Drives window appears, select your hard drive and click Optimize.
4. Disable unneeded startup items: Open the Run window (press Windows key + R) and type “msconfig”. When the System Configuration window opens, click the Startup tab and uncheck any programs or services you don’t need to start up when you turn on your computer.
5. Check for viruses and malware: Install an antivirus program and regularly scan your computer with it. Make sure you keep it updated.
6. Check disk health: Open the Start menu and type “chkdsk” into the search bar. When the Check Disk window appears, select your hard drive and click Scan.
